Fabric and materials
Suggested fabrics: Cotton drill, canvas, denim, linen, oilcloth.
For UK 12, as it comes:
- Main fabric: 1.2 m of 115 cm wide, 1.2 m of 140 cm wide, 1.2 m of 150 cm wide
- Thread to match
- A D-ring pair, 3 cm, if you want an adjustable neck strap (optional)
How to sew it
- Make the ties and strap: fold each in half lengthwise, right sides together, sew the long edge (and one end of each tie), turn them out and press.
- Hem the pocket’s top edge, press the other edges under and topstitch it on at the dot, sewing down the middle to divide it.
- Press under and stitch a narrow double hem along the sides and bottom of the apron.
- Hem the curved sides, tucking the ties’ open ends under at the waistline. Hem the top of the bib with the strap’s ends tucked under at each corner. Fold the strap and ties out and stitch over them again.
