Floats, edges and repeats
What the status bar at the bottom tells you.
The bar along the bottom checks the cloth as you design:
- Longest floats: the most ends (warp) or picks (weft) a thread passes over without interlacing. Long floats snag. Turn on Highlight floats longer than in the settings to see them striped black and white in the drawdown.
- Not woven in: threads that never go over and under, so would fall out.
- Edges: whether the weft catches the edge end at each turn. If not, use a floating selvedge or change the edge threading.
Click a warning (it says Fix…) to see why it happens, how to fix it by hand, and suggested fixes to apply in one step:
- Not woven in: rethread the ends onto a shaft that weaves, following on from the threading; leave them unthreaded; or move picks onto a treadle that weaves.
- Edges: start the shuttle from the other side, weave with floating selvedges, or add a selvedge end at each edge threaded to catch the weft, leaving the pattern as it is.
- Long floats: show them in the drawdown, or allow floats that long.
The repeat (the smallest part that repeats) is shown in the Pattern settings, with Trim to one repeat.
